In Ron Clarke's book, "The Measure Of Success", there is a section in which Ron mentions that three athletes were very likely gold medal winners in the '68 Olympics if the Games were held in a city that was much closer to sea level elevation than Mexico City.
Those three Ron cited were, Derek Clayton, Ron himself and Jim Ryun. Ron further stated that Jim was a more likely winner in the 1500 than Derek in the marathon or himself in the 10,000.
